In Loving Memory

of

JOHN G. Bentley

aka

Mother Janel Claiborne

June 16, 1967-February 8, 2020

John Bentley passed away on February 8, 2020. John was a founding member of Kentucky Black Pride, who helped our organization create programs and workshops to educate our community on HIV/AIDS Awareness. John as was known as Janel Claiborne, and created the House of Claiborne to help struggling teens and gay guys, mentoring them and providing a nurturing role as a parent to many of them who's family had rejected them. John will be sadly missed.

"Gay pride was not born out of a need to celebrate being gay, but instead our right to exist without prosecution."
