Where it all begin

Kentucky Black Pride Inc., was organized in December 2016 under the leadership of Shawn Ka'Ron Bumpase. The organization officially met on January 7, 2017 at the North side branch Library and formed a board of directors and elected officers. KBP is a non-profit organization and is in process is obtaining our 501 (c) 3 status. Kentucky Black Pride meets every 1st Monday of the month at the Versailles Road Branch Library at 7pm. 

Accomplishments: Kentucky Black Pride hosted the it's 1st Annual Pride weekend during the Roots and Heritage Festival Month, September 15-17, 2018. With a very successful Pride in the Park event held at the Woodland Park here in Lexington, Kentucky. KBP was recognized by Lexington-Fayette County Mayor Jim Gray. Also KBP hosted a annual "Back 2 School Back Pack Giveway" in August. KBP also sponsored a LGBTQ family during the Christmas holiday by providing gifts, food and other items through Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.

KBP received a grant of $500.00 from Kentucky's Justfunds program that sponsored a educational segment of Pride weekend.

KBP would like to thank other sponsors such as Earl Fowlkes from Washington, DC, Justfundsky, Lexington Fairness, PFLAGG, AVOL (AIDS Volunteer of Lexington), PCSO (Lexington Pride Organization), Trust Night Club, Tee Dee's Night club, Ramada Conference Center Hotel, AurrozChicken Podcast, House of Claiborne, House of LaMore, UK Resource for LGBTQ Center, and its board and staff (Shawn Ka'Ron Bumpase, Lorleeta Mundy, John G. Anyone interested in becoming a member can come up to the 1st Monday of the month and join. There is a yearly $25.00 fee required to be a member of Kentucky Black Pride Inc.

Kentucky Black Pride Festival Sept 13-16

Come out and join us for our 2nd Annual Kentucky Black Pride Festival in Lexington, Kentucky. Kentucky Black Pride "Pride in the PARK" will be back at the Woodland Park 601 High Street Lexington, Kentucky. This Year there will be Tim Talbert & Project Band performing along with Female Rapper JoJo. There will be a Drag show featuring our newly crown Mr. & Miss Kentucky Black Pride 2018 winners.
